"Le Prometteur" is an high-quality reproduction of an original acrylic on canvas work that I completed in 2006. Modeled after the beautiful face of a woman found in a mid-Victorian era photograph, "Le Prometteur" ( French translation of "The Promise") focuses on issues of love, devotion and memory. The young woman contemplates an important promise that either she has made to another, that was made to her, or perhaps that she has even made to herself. The fading words from an aging letter float about her representative of memories and deep thought. Dripping paint represents the mysteriousness of the unknown future and consequences of both keeping the promise, or not.
